Supporting families through their postpartum journey

.

As a mother of four, I recognise the uniqueness of each journey and the importance of empowering and supporting mothers, and how this can have a profound impact not only on the mother’s well-being but also on the entire family unit.

By providing maternity services in the comfort of your own home, mothers feel supported and understood throughout their journey, which can significantly improve their physical health and emotional well-being. Having a dedicated support network that offers individualised care tailored to the specific needs of each family can make a world of difference during what can often be a challenging and transformative time.

Meet Skye

I’m a midwife with a mission...
To help create a world where midwifery-led care is the norm, not the exception. That vision is what led me to establish MidwifeMe, bringing personalised, compassionate, and community-focused maternity care to Esperance. I work both privately within the community and alongside the amazing team at our local hospital, because I believe every family deserves continuity of care and a midwife who genuinely cares about their journey. I am a Registered Nurse (RN) and an Endorsed Privately Practising Midwife (EPPM), with comprehensive qualifications in maternity care. I hold a Bachelor of Nursing, a Graduate Diploma of Midwifery, and a Graduate Certificate of Midwifery and Diagnostics, which enables me to prescribe medications and independently order ultrasounds and blood tests throughout your pregnancy. I am also a qualified Paediatric Massage Consultant, a Hypnobirthing Australia Childbirth Educator, and I am currently undertaking further professional development to become a Robyn Thompson Method Breastfeeding Practitioner. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, informed consent, and respectful, individualised care. Outside of midwifery, I’m a proud mum of four amazing children, and life is rarely quiet. When I’m not supporting families, you’ll often find me in the hockey net, dressed as a Transformer, blocking shots and having a laugh. At home, my french bulldog Frankie keeps me grounded with plenty of snuggles. It’s a full and busy life, and I wouldn’t change for anything.

Common Questions

These are some common questions about engaging a Private Midwife. If you have a question that isn’t addressed here, please feel welcome to contact me.

The Complete Pregnancy Package
This comprehensive package provides continuity of care throughout your pregnancy and into the postnatal period (up to 7 weeks). It includes full antenatal and postnatal care delivered in the comfort of your own home, with ongoing, individualised support tailored to your needs. I also attend the hospital with you during labour and birth to provide continuous support alongside the hospital maternity team.

Bulk-Billed Postnatal Services
Medicare-eligible families can access bulk-billed postnatal care, offering professional support in the early weeks after birth. These visits focus on maternal recovery, infant wellbeing, feeding support, and emotional adjustment, ensuring you feel supported and confident as you transition into life with your newborn.

We do not currently have a dedicated clinic space.

Our service proudly offers home visits to those clients who reside in Esperance, Western Australia, providing personalised care in the comfort of your own home.

For those living outside the Esperance region, we offer convenient online video conference appointments, ensuring that all clients have access to quality support and guidance regardless of their geographical location.

Most women in Australia are eligible for Medicare, and if you are Medicare-eligible, a portion of your care may be covered by Medicare. The amount rebated varies depending on your individual circumstances, including whether you hold a Health Care Card and your progress toward the Medicare Safety Net or Extended Medicare Safety Net.

For further information about Medicare Safety Nets, please refer to Medicare directly.

Some women may continue care with an obstetrician, either because it is clinically recommended or by personal choice. If you are planning to give birth in a public facility, you and your midwife will discuss whether involvement from other health professionals is required at any stage of your care.

Obstetric consultations are available where appropriate, and if increased complexity arises, a referral to an obstetrician may be recommended. In these situations, your midwife will continue to provide midwifery care as part of a collaborative approach. For most women, ongoing obstetric care is not required; however, this option remains available when needed or desired.

The Complete Pregnancy Package provides personalised, midwifery-led care in your own home from early pregnancy through to six weeks postpartum. Appointments typically start every 4 weeks until 32 weeks, then fortnightly until 36 weeks, and weekly until birth. Postnatally, I will visit daily for the first five days (or as required), then weekly until six weeks. This package also includes a six-week postpartum birth debrief, breastfeeding guidance, and education to support you and your baby through the 4th trimester.

Investing in Your Birth Experience
Just as we invest in the things that matter most — our homes, careers, health, and family — investing in midwifery-led continuity of care is an investment in your wellbeing and that of your baby. Research shows that continuity of care during pregnancy leads to better outcomes for both mother and baby, ensuring you are supported, informed, and empowered throughout your maternity journey.

Pricing
The Complete Pregnancy Package is $5000. To make this investment more manageable, flexible payment plans are available.

Payment Plan Options

Medicare & Private Health Insurance
As a Medicare Eligible Midwife registered with AHPRA, you may be eligible to claim a portion of your care back from Medicare. Most women receive approximately $1500, though this will vary based on your individual Medicare details, Safety Net status, and whether you hold a Health Care Card. You may also wish to check with your private health fund for additional rebates.

It’s a good idea to start looking for a private midwife early in your pregnancy, ideally as soon as you know you’re expecting. This gives you time to research options, ask questions, and secure continuity of care throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postnatal period. Early engagement also allows your midwife to get to know you and your preferences, provide timely education, and plan a personalised care pathway that supports the best outcomes for you and your baby.
